Specialised Benefits for Police Officers & Emergency Service Workers
Police home loans are regular owner-occupier or investment loans assessed under lender policies that may be better suited to emergency-services income. The loan itself may be fixed, variable or split, with features selected around your budget and goals. What changes between lenders is how they assess overtime, shift penalties and allowances. Some lenders have emergency-services policies that may recognise more of this income or provide LMI concessions to eligible police officers. Conditions, income thresholds and deposit requirements still apply.

HOW WE CAN HELP
We review your payslips, year-to-date income, allowances, employment history and deposit to determine which lenders may assess your position more favourably. Prestige compares suitable loans and handles the process from borrowing calculations to settlement.

Police-Specific Lender Benefits
Select lenders currently offer police-only home loan benefits that may include LMI waivers when borrowing up to 90% of the property value, waived establishment fees and consideration of up to 100% of eligible overtime. These are lender policies rather than government grants, and standard credit criteria still apply.
How Much Could You Save on LMI?
Lenders Mortgage Insurance can add tens of thousands of dollars to the cost of buying with a smaller deposit. If you qualify for a police home loan with an LMI waiver at 90% LVR, you may be able to avoid this cost entirely.
Property Value | 10% Deposit | Loan Amount (90% LVR) | Potential LMI Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
$500,000 | $50,000 | $450,000 | $13,227 |
$750,000 | $75,000 | $675,000 | $27,486 |
$1,000,000 | $100,000 | $900,000 | $36,712 |
$1,250,000 | $125,000 | $1,125,000 | $50,314 |
$1,500,000 | $150,000 | $1,350,000 | $60,519 |
That is money that could stay in your savings, cover purchasing costs or help you settle into your new property.
Prestige can check whether you qualify for a police-specific LMI waiver and compare it against other suitable loans across our lender panel.
